A solidly built iron brand with a decorated handle, usually marked with the symbol of the nation that had it made, the brand itself is usually simple and easily recognizable, marking the recipient as a criminal who is no longer welcome in their home country.

The brand must be heated until it is white hot and then applied to the subject, while this is extremely painful it does no lasting damage beyond branding the mark unto the subject. The brand cannot be removed by healing magic, covered by an illusion or covered by make up, The brand will always be visible when looked for by anyone.

When created the brand is set to a single geographical area. The area needs to be defined by natural land marks, often rivers, coastlines or mountains.

The branded character additionally finds the idea of returning to the geographical area very unsetteling, suffering a -1 penalty on all skill checks relating to trying to do so. If they succeed in returning to their home country, they suffer a -3 penalty to all skill checks and a -1 penalty to all saves from a generalized sensation of dread and a desire to get out.
